SUMMA HEALTH SYSTEM SELECTS eClinicalWorks INTEGRATED EMR AND PRACTICE
MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
Unified Solution Enables 1,100 Providers to Efficiently Manage Data,
Improving Patient Care
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. AND AKRON, Ohio—May 30, 2006—eClinicalWorks™, a
leading provider of unified ambulatory clinical information systems, today
announced that Summa Health System has selected eClinicalWorks unified
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Practice Management (PM) solution.
eClinicalWorks solution could be utilized by 1,100 providers to efficiently
manage data, thus improving patient care. Providers will have the choice of
the Application Service Provider (ASP) or client/server model of the product
along with access to the Web-based Patient Portal.
“The selection and implementation of our EMR platform, coupled with other
ongoing technology initiatives, reflects Summa’s commitment to provide our
patients with the very best care available – whether in the hospital or a
physician’s office,” said Dr. Michael Maggio, Chair of Summa Health Network,
Summa Health System’s physician-hospital organization. “Equally important,
it also gives us another advantage when attracting top resident candidates.
Currently, more than 200 residents train at Summa Health System and it
underscores to them the value we place on continually evolving as a
healthcare organization to meet the ever changing impact technology has on
patient care. Ultimately, I am very excited about this platform and look
forward to working with eClinicalWorks on its implementation.”
Summa Health System brings together physicians from three Ohio
hospitals—Akron City, St. Thomas and Cuyahoga Falls General—making it one of
the largest organized delivery systems in the state. By providing its
healthcare providers with eClinicalWorks, they will be able to streamline
internal processes between the health system’s three hospitals and promote
patient safety while reducing costs. The accompanying Patient Portal allows
patients and physicians to communicate easily, safely, and securely over the
Internet for aspects of their care including appointments, lab results and
statements.
“Summa Health System’s initiative is evidence of the tremendous growth in
EMR implementations this year,” said Girish Kumar Navani, president of
eClinicalWorks. “The network’s decision to select eClinicalWorks for its
providers is proof of the value that an integrated EMR and PM solution
brings to managing patient information along the entire service chain. We
look forward to working with Summa on its ambulatory clinical information
systems and helping its providers deliver an even greater quality of care,
without the hassles of unnecessary paperwork.”
eClinicalWorks’ EMR solution enables Summa to manage patient flow,
immediately access patient records in-house or remotely, electronically
communicate with the referring physicians and securely send consult notes
and clinical data. Users can easily access and review complete patient
histories, past visits, current medications, allergies, labs and charts.
Integrated with EMR is eClinicalWorks Practice Management, designed to
instantly streamline the medical billing process.
