eClinicalWorks, ASP.MD and Bond Technologies Complete SureScripts Certification, Expanding Connectivity Between Pharmacists and Physicians
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - October 17, 2005 - SureScripts, the nation's largest network provider of electronic prescribing services, announced today that three companies have completed the SureScripts certification process and are now SureScripts Certified Solution Providers (CSPs), bringing the total number of SureScripts CSPs to 26. The new certified solution providers are eClinicalWorks, ASP.MD, and Bond Technologies.
The result of these individual certifications enables thousands of prescribers in office-based practices to communicate with pharmacies in a two-way true electronic fashion. Physicians using these certified solutions will be able to receive renewal requests electronically, directly to their computer, instead of via phone or fax machine and to transmit renewal authorizations or denials and new prescription orders directly to the pharmacist's computer. As a result, the prescription process is safer and more efficient. Specifically:
- eClinicalWorks, which has an established U.S. customer base of more than 4,000 medical providers covering 50 specialties across all 50 states, has certified its eClinicalWorks 6.7 EMR and has gone live implementing its new retail pharmacy connectivity in pilot sites.
- ASP.MD Inc. has completed certification for the ASP.MD Medical Management System, its web-based, integrated practice and clinical management solution. ASP.MD will initially roll out to customers in Massachusetts and throughout the Northeast.
- Bond Technologies has certified the Bond Clinician™ EHR version 2005. Bond Technologies customers throughout the United States will be the first to receive this new capability.
"We are seeing an increasing understanding of the value of electronic data exchange - and unprecedented demand. As a SureScripts Certified Solution Provider, we can support our clients in improving the quality of care they provide to their patients through more efficient communications with pharmacies, which will result in fewer medication errors, and a more efficient refill authorization process for the practice," said Girish Kumar, founder and vice president of sales and marketing, eClinicalWorks.
"With e-prescribing playing a crucial role in today's workflow, we are excited to be able to offer our customers the benefits of prescribing on the SureScripts network," said Travis Bond, President and Chief Architect of Bond Technologies. "Bond users can now prescribe with ease using the e-prescribing system within Bond Clinician™ EHR. By adding true electronic connectivity, our clients are able to streamline workflow and drastically increase patient safety."
At present, more than 85% of the nation's pharmacies operate software that has been certified to connect to the SureScripts network. Currently more than 45 of the nation's 50 states are conducting electronic transactions via the SureScripts network. In total, SureScripts has contracts with more than 50 clinical software vendors and health systems. These organizations, representing more than 150,000 current physician users, are in varying stages of certifying their software for a connection to the SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network.
"We are delighted to welcome these three companies as SureScripts Certified Solution Providers. All of them are recognized in the healthcare industry for their respective technological excellence and innovation," said Kevin Hutchinson, president and chief executive officer of SureScripts. "We are continuing to strengthen the nationwide infrastructure for electronic prescribing through partnerships with these companies, who can continue to give their clients the tools to enhance safety and efficiency through electronic prescribing."
