eCLINICALWORKS ANNOUNCES VERSION 8.0 AND ENTERPRISE BUSINESS OPTIMIZER

Company Announces Latest Version of its Award-winning Unified Electronic Medical Records and Practice Management System; New Enterprise Solution

ORLANDO, Fla., HIMSS Conference, BOOTH #3485—February 25, 2008— eClinicalWorksTM, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced eClinicalWorks 8.0, the latest version of its unified electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management (PM) software. As part of this announcement, the company is also launching a complimentary solution, titled Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO), using meta-data to create custom reports. eBO and Version 8.0 will be available beginning in April 2008.

The new clinical and monetary business optimization features that are included in eBO, including Cognos 8 Business Intelligence, will allow for more dynamic reporting and analysis with drill-down and custom report writing based on meta-data. This solution will enable customers to create their own customized reports and perform clinical and financial analysis, giving more flexibility to the practice.

"MAeHC was formed to help improve healthcare quality, safety and affordability through technology," said Micky Tripathi, chief executive of Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC). "A large portion of this project has been dedicated to electronic health records, with eClinicalWorks being the vendor of choice for the vast majority of the providers involved. The system offered by eClinicalWorks has always been top-rated, but this new version elevates the role of electronic health records systems from managing healthcare to improving the care provided. In my opinion, the measurement, decision support and reporting functions of eClinicalWorks’ new version will raise the bar for the entire industry."

eClinicalWorks has collected product feedback from customers nationwide, which created the groundwork for the latest version. A sample of enhancements found in eClinicalWorks EMR/PM 8.0 includes:

  • Clinical Decision Support System for developing clinical measures as well as new ways for improving chronic and preventative care;
  • Structured data for reporting and researching patient information;
  • Apply treatment protocols using pre-defined order sets;
  • Claims work lists and follow-up management;
  • Automated claims and statement processing;
  • Rejection-based workflow manager; and
  • Enterprise task manager.

eClinicalWorks Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX) new electronic referrals and care management capabilities aid in creating a holistic view of a patient’s ambulatory record for community-wide projects. The company’s Patient Portal now offers enhanced patient communication via text message (SMS) in addition to the always available e-mail and has received enhancements to the ways patient history can be collected.

“eClinicalWorks has always worked closely with its customers to enrich our products in ways that most directly benefit them and how they care for their patients,” said Girish Kumar Navani, president of eClinicalWorks. “It is the input that we receive from people using our products daily in their practice that has the most direct impact in the direction our solutions take. This has resulted in eClinicalWorks building a next-generation EMR/PM system in addition to the creation of complimentary products, including the Enterprise Business Optimizer and last year’s release of our Electronic Health eXchange.”
