  • Welcome to the EMR and healthcare IT blogosphere! I look forward to seeing your insights and thoughts on the EHR world. We’re in what I call the golden age of EHR, so it’s a great time to be part of the conversation.

Good luck on feeding what I call the “content beast.” Blogs like to be fed regularly. It will surprise you.

  • I’m interested in jioning the Healthcare Scene network. I’m a huge supporter of the concept of EMRs, and a huge detractor of our health care system and the current implementation of EMRs which the system demands. I think I would bring a definitely different perspective to the HS Network.

  • Needed to draft you this very small observation to be able to say thank you again for these idierncble pointers you have featured on this page. It’s incredibly generous with people like you to give extensively precisely what many of us would have made available for an ebook to earn some cash on their own, particularly given that you might have tried it if you considered necessary. Those principles also worked to be a fantastic way to be certain that other people online have a similar keenness much like my personal own to realize very much more with regard to this matter. Certainly there are numerous more pleasurable opportunities ahead for individuals that take a look at your blog post.

I saw an article several months back that compared the cost of emergency room visits between a group of patients who had personal health records and a group who had no PHR. The average cost per ER visit and and other hospital charges for the group with a PHR was significantly less than those without a PHR. If I remember correctly the costs associated with the non-PHR group were nearly three times the costs associated with the PHR group. Those patients who presented in the ER with a PHR had fewer labs done, fewer hospital admissions and fewer adverse drug reactions than the non-PHR group of patients.

  • Well, I may not be tuhnkfal for Blue Button as of yet. However, I am tuhnkfal for the veterans, family, and the VA to include VHA, and VBA. I look forward to this database expanding its horizons and could be extremely beneficial for tens of thousands of veterans who seek health care at other facilities other than the VAMC’s and CBOC’s. Hopefully this could be used both ways so that a veterans who receives their medications through the VA, can upload the RX from a private clinic and get that med sent to them from their VAMC pharmacy.

  • What a pelausre to find someone who identifies the issues so clearly

  • I absolutely agree that the PHR is the most pfuerowl patient advocacy tool available today. Here’s the but , most of us as patients are either unaware of its existence from various sources or don’t know how to access them. Patient education would travel far. The question then becomes, By whom? I would place this initiative where the greatest resources exist; the insurers. I give hospitals and practices a flyer on patient awareness right now as they are overwhelmed with myriad and labyrinthine regulations and compliances (Migrating to EHR is proving a huge conundrum/debacle for many.) while trying to effectively and efficiently care for patients.
