3,000 Providers Achieve Recognition Using eClinicalWorks PCMH Analytics Services

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.—November 10, 2014—eClinicalWorks®, a leader in ambulatory healthcare IT solutions, today announces the success its customers have achieved in receiving National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition. A PCMH organizes primary care to place care coordination and communication in a patient-centric manner. These organizations can experience higher quality and lower costs, and can improve the patients’ and providers’ experience. To date, eClinicalWorks has assisted more than 3,000 medical providers in becoming PCMH recognized.
eClinicalWorks solutions are NCQA pre-validated and provide organizations with 16.25 auto-credit points towards their PCMH recognition. Additionally, eClinicalWorks customers can measure patient satisfaction, an important component in the recognition process, using the Patient Satisfaction Survey tool, an NCQA-certified tool for the PCMH model that is based on CAHPS® guidelines. eClinicalWorks is also the first, and currently the only, electronic health records (EHR) technology vendor to also have this tool integrated. As a result of investments by eClinicalWorks in PCMH, 70 percent of Medical Homes using eClinicalWorks have achieved Level 3 recognition, the highest level possible.

“Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians started its PCMH initiative by submitting four individual practices for accreditation,” said Judy Minaudo, quality improvement manager for Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians. “We soon realized that we wanted to take PCMH to the next level and apply for a corporate submission.  The decision was made to partner with eClinicalWorks and we literally built the PCMH care plans together as we were implementing eClinicalWorks. We completed the process for 44 practices, all of which are Level 3 NCQA PCMH certified.”

“Our office undertook the PCMH transformation,” said Dr. Jose Orcasita, NCQA Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home. “It has really helped us work better with other practices in closing the loop of information and providing better care. I love the eClinicalWorks technology; it is so easy to use and modify for our practice. It allows us to work as a team in order to provide the patients with efficient quality care.  The benefit of utilizing eClinicalWorks allows us to run reports to track chronic conditions as well as other additional reports.”
eClinicalWorks has been supporting Patient-Centered Medical Homes since the advent of this model as an accreditation program in 2008. As interest in this model of healthcare delivery steadily increased, so has the company’s investment in the development of software solutions and consulting services specifically for PCMH. In addition to features in the core EHR solution, eClinicalWorks PCMH suite of products now includes a Care Planning module, PCMH Analytics reporting module, and the NCQA-certified Patient Satisfaction Survey tool. These products aim to make the medical home transformation process easier for healthcare organizations while simultaneously adopting this model for long-term use.

“PCMH is an ambitious undertaking that aims to improve patient care through communication and by focusing on preventative care,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “Since the program’s inception, we have supported our customers in their quest for PCMH recognition and have evolved our offerings to deliver optimal support and technology for the changing guidelines. We congratulate each one of our customers that has made this achievement.”
