The threat of rain couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of our attendees at Day Two of our National Conference. With a full slate of breakout sessions, podcasts on the docket, and wall-to-wall booths in eCWCentral, there was a metric ton of valuable information to be shared and applied to power your practice.
Highlights included the value of Patient Engagement solutions in reducing front-office staff burnout and the value of simplified access to information in urgent care.
Self-Check-In Puts Burnout in Check
How many EHRs do you need? During our live podcast with Oak Orchard Health, Chief Information Officer Jason Kuder said they spent 14 years using too many. This made launching new services difficult. In 2023, they went all in with eClinicalWorks®.
How’d it go? Pretty awesome. Specifically, healow® Open Access® and healow CHECK-IN™ brought exceptional results.
Staff used to be burdened with high call volume while patients were onsite trying to check in for their appointments. So much so that front-office retention was low. healow Open Access alleviated that issue immediately. In April 2025, they added it to their Patient Portal with no marketing. Appointments booked online came in the next day. August saw them schedule 246 appointments online, and they’re expecting better results for September.
With healow CHECK-IN, Oak Orchard Health is experiencing 20% of check-ins before the patients arrive at the office. The kiosk option further simplifies and expedites the check-in process.
It’s been a boon to the front-office staff with reduced burnout, reduced attrition, and improved performance.
Timely Updates for Urgent Care

During one key breakout session, we got a download on a series of updates to our urgent care services that provide more comprehensive information while making things less chaotic. The interactive queue lets you reinvent your front office workflows. For example, you can toggle between group appointments, aftercare, and kiosk check-in with the combined tracking board. That’s fewer clicks to see all the necessary information.
You can also put parameters on who can access specific information in the Office Visits + Tracking Board. You can limit access based on the individual user, an individual’s role, or even everybody in the care center.
We’ve also included Patient Engagement enhancements to further streamline your workflows. Your front staff can manage all aspects of the check-in process, including confirming or updating insurance, completing questionnaires, accepting payment, and more.
V12.0.3 includes all these enhancements and more, so if you have the latest version, you have the latest enhancements.
More updates are planned for the next version. Based on customer feedback, we’ll add a duration patient waiting time indicator, billing alerts, collection status, and more.
Let’s Flamingle!

We’ll close out the busy day with an exciting evening — delicious food, a silent disco, a flamboyance of flamingos, and a whole lot more — just some good, clean, post-Day Two Conference fun.
