Network of NYC Academic Medical Centers and Hospitals Chooses Leading Oncology Software Integrated with Premier EMR System

BURLINGTON, Mass. and WESTBOROUGH, Mass.–Feb. 22, 2011–Continuum Health Partners, the network of five prestigious hospitals and academic medical centers in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals, has chosen to use IntrinsiQ’s IntelliDose® clinical oncology software with eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management (PM) system to support its major expansion of cancer care services. Continuum has expanded its relationship with eClinicalWorks, recently purchasing an additional 150 licenses.

Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals are the cornerstones of Continuum Cancer Centers of New York (CCCNY), the health network’s unified cancer programs. CCCNY treats more than 6,000 new cancer patients and has over 250,000 patient visits per year across locations throughout the New York City area. It’s one of the largest and most comprehensive multi-site cancer programs in the Northeast and delivers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

“In our fast-paced oncology settings, we need a specialized solution that fully integrates with eClinicalWorks – our health network EMR. IntelliDose gives our oncologists clinical tools to manage chemotherapy regimens and share optimal treatment plans that reflect our collective expertise,” said Dr. Ronald H. Blum, director, Cancer Centers and Programs, Beth Israel Cancer Center. “Using IntelliDose with eClinicalWorks, we can build a complete record of patient care that is shared with the entire Continuum care team.”

Continuum chose IntelliDose, IntrinsiQ’s leading chemotherapy management system, to create consistent clinical treatment plans across its multiple cancer care sites and reach the highest levels of clinical and operational excellence.

IntelliDose streamlines the manual process of chemotherapy regimen calculations into electronically verified orders. In combination with eClinicalWorks, IntelliDose saves crucial time and revenue by capturing charges, drug administrations and waste, inventory records and nursing notes, all in the course of delivering high-quality patient care.

Continuum has implemented eClinicalWorks unified EMR/PM system with the goals of streamlining the clinical processes and promoting patient safety while reducing costs. The network is also using eClinicalWorks Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX) to create a community record that will enable physicians to have access to patients’ vital health information and allow physicians to exchange data more effectively.
