One of the Largest Community Hospitals in the Mid-Atlantic Selects eClinicalWorks Care Coordination Portal and eClinicalWorks Community Analytics
WESTBOROUGH, Mass.—February 27, 2012—eClinicalWorks®, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announces that Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), one of the largest community hospitals in the mid-Atlantic, has expanded its relationship with the company to include eClinicalWorks Care Coordination Portal and eClinicalWorks Community Analytics. This will aid GBMC in meeting its objectives as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO), coordinating care across the continuum as well as evaluating population health and quality improvement activities.
This expansion will additionally assist GBMC in working with its practices in becoming National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)-recognized Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH). Both ACO and PCMH delivery models coordinate care between patients and members of the healthcare team with the goal being to help strengthen the physician-patient relationship, leading to better care and reduced avoidable costs over time.
“Greater Baltimore Medical Center strives to bring a seamless experience to our patients,” said Tressa Springmann, vice president and chief information officer of Greater Baltimore Medical Center. “This includes collaborating across all care settings in order to view our patients holistically. eClinicalWorks has been a great partner in helping us standardize how practices work and we look forward to working with the company in our ACO effort.”
eClinicalWorks Care Coordination Portal is designed to provide visibility into a patient’s care across all settings, facilitate smooth transitions of care, engage patients and providers in preventative care, improve outcomes among populations and reduce costs. eClinicalWorks Community Analytics delivers reporting, alerting and messaging capabilities necessary to manage population health. Reports can be run at the community level to determine and monitor adherence of clinical process and outcomes, for including medication recalls and chronic disease management. Both solutions work together for a collaborative care framework.
“The role of the EHR is increasingly expanding beyond the walls of a practice,” said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “Our recent additions of the eClinicalWorks Care Coordination Portal and eClinicalWorks Community Analytics build on the EHR and communications tools that we already have been delivering, and help our customers to effectively undertake comprehensive care delivery. We look forward to working with GBMC in this initiative.”
In August 2010, it was announced that GBMC had selected eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) for its employed physician group that is comprised of more than 100 employed physicians located across 40 practices. The multi-specialty group has also selected implemented eClinicalWorks Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX®), eClinicalWorks Patient Portal, eClinicalWorks P2P and Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO) to further optimize patient care. This announcement expands on this relationship.
GBMC HealthCare includes Greater Baltimore Medical Center, a 281 bed acute care not-for-profit hospital which opened in 1965 and provides Health, Healing and Hope; Greater Baltimore Medical Associates, a group of more than 40 multi-specialty physician practices on the hospital’s Towson campus and locations across the region; Greater Baltimore Health Alliance, an alliance of GBMC-employed and private practicing physician partners; Gilchrist Hospice Care, Maryland’s largest hospice organization offering care in-home as well as in a 34-bed inpatient center on the GBMC Towson campus and at a 10-bed inpatient center in Howard County; and the GBMC Foundation, which raises funds to support the organization’s mission.
