eClinicalWorks’ Customer Experiences 230% Return on Investment since Implementing Electronic Health Records

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.—December 10, 2015—eClinicalWorks®, a leader in ambulatory healthcare IT solutions, is pleased to congratulate HealthNet, the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in Indiana, on being awarded a 2015 Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Ambulatory Davies Award of Excellence, which recognizes outstanding achievement of organizations that have used health IT, specifically electronic health record (EHR)-enabled improvement, to notably improve patient outcomes while achieving return on investment. This is the 14th eClinicalWorks’ customer to receive a HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence in the past eight years.

HealthNet makes quality health services accessible to those in Indianapolis’ inner-city neighborhoods. Through 150 medical providers, HealthNet annually provides affordable health care to more than 59,286 individuals, 65% of whom are Medicaid recipients and 77% are under the age of 35. With a network that includes eight primary care health centers, an OB/GYN care center, a pediatric and adolescent care center, one maternal fetal medicine center, five dental clinics, seven school-based clinics, and a homeless program with eight shelter clinics, the organization has been utilizing the eClinicalWorks EHR since 2009 and has achieved a 230% return on investment.

“HealthNet is driven by its mission to improve lives with compassionate healthcare and support services, regardless of ability to pay,” said J. Cornelius Brown, CHE, president and CEO of HealthNet. “Our designation as a Joint Commission-certified Patient Centered Medical Home and successful Meaningful Use attestations would not have been possible without having the proper technology and processes in place. Implementing electronic health records has been a great advantage for our organization, delivering significant return on investment, both financially and in regard to patient care.”

As the only FQHC in Indiana to have been accredited by the Joint Commission as an Ambulatory Practice, HealthNet also achieved Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) designation in October 2012 and has successfully attested 98% of its eligible providers for Medicaid Meaningful Use. According to information on the HIMSS site, HealthNet has successfully leveraged health IT to standardize care and improve patient outcomes. With the assistance of its EHR and a variety of interventions, HealthNet has reduced low birth weights, improved care outcomes for pediatric patients, and significantly increased patient satisfaction.

“The success achieved by HealthNet is a terrific example of the improvements to care delivery that can be realized by properly aligning technology and people,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “Combining the eClinicalWorks EHR solution with a commitment to establishing processes that optimize care has delivered real clinical and practical benefits to the organization and its patients. We are proud to be a partner of HealthNet and congratulate the organization on receiving this award.”

HealthNet will be recognized at the 2016 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition, February 29-March 4, 2016 in Las Vegas, according to HIMSS officials. For more information on applying for the HIMSS Davies Awards of Excellence, visit the HIMSS Davies Award website.
