Suburban Chicago Hospital Brings Electronic Medical Records System and Patient Portal to Affiliated Physicians to Improve Quality of Care

Orlando, Fla., HIMSS Conference, Booth #3485—February 25, 2008—eClinicalWorksTM, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Lake Forest Hospital, a Chicago-area hospital rated number one consumer choice Corporation (in Kenosha and Lake Counties) by National Research, has purchased licenses of eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management (PM) software to offer to its affiliated physicians.

“Lake Forest Hospital is recognized for its commitment to patient safety and overall quality of care,” said Thomas J. McAfee, president and CEO of Lake Forest Hospital. “Implementing a clinical integration system and portal is the next logical step in advancing patient care. We worked closely with our affiliated physicians who selected eClinicalWorks for its comprehensive functionality and its superior customer support.”

Lake Forest Hospital is offering eClinicalWorks as a unified EMR/PM system to streamline the clinical processes at physician practices and promote patient safety while reducing expenses. Lake Forest Hospital will help offset initial costs for implementing eClinicalWorks – a cost that can be significant to the small and mid-sized physician practices that make up its medical staff. Through eClinicalWorks, physicians can utilize e-prescribing which provides a direct link between the practice and the computer at the pharmacy (not the fax machine); the Patient Portal which will provide physicians with a secure means to communicate with their patients, including having patients make appointments online, view lab results and enter health statements; as well as a robust electronic medical record.

“eClinicalWorks provides its customers with award-winning solutions that can improve the extended practice,” said Girish Kumar Navani, president of eClinicalWorks. “The ease-of-use and comprehensive functionality of our solutions helps our customers, including Lake Forest, to better serve their patients. We are looking forward to working with an institution that is so committed to its patients that they are rated number one in consumer choice.”

Lake Forest Hospital is a fully licensed and accredited 205-bed community offering a complete range of services that are staffed by 625 physicians, with offices conveniently located throughout Lake County, near Chicago, Ill. Lake Forest Hospital has been named the #1 Consumer Choice hospital in Lake and Kenosha counties for 2007/08 by the independent firm National Research Corporation. LFH has earned this honor three years in a row for having the best doctors, best nurses, best image and reputation, and best overall quality.
