Interviewing Technology Streamlines the Flow of Information into eClinicalWorks EMR and Powers eVisits

Dallas, TEPR Conference, Booth #516—May 21, 2007 — eClinicalWorks, a market leader in unified EMR/PM systems, and Primetime Medical Software, the leading provider of software to support the computer-assisted interviewing of patients, today announced an agreement to embed Instant Medical History (IMH) into the next version of eClinicalWorks Patient Portal, creating a time-saving and revenue enhancing feature. This will be available in Summer 2007.

By providing each patient a symptom-specific questionnaire, IMH helps patients organize their history. Branching logic progresses quickly through adjustable questionnaires before organizing the positives and negatives for physicians. This information is then sent to the eClinicalWorks EMR Patient History Bar. With this advance information, physicians conduct efficient and informed patient interviews, reducing the visit time while increasing the documentation quality. This provides physicians with more accurate and consistently presented preliminary information, resulting in a more focused and higher value in-person interview in support of better—and faster—diagnoses. The same technology enables the industry’s most comprehensive, highest-quality set of eVisits.

“Primetime is honored to have been selected by eClinicalWorks for our IMH capabilities,” said Matthew Ferrante, president of Primetime Medical Software. “eClinicalWorks has been very successful in partnering with medical associations and physician groups, and we look forward to the opportunity.”

Key benefits of Instant Medical History:

  • Reduces the office visit by 3-4 minutes;
  • Reduces data entry time;
  • Enhances patient communication and satisfaction;
  • Increases the documentation quality significantly; and
  • Enables online consultations between patients and physicians.

“The ability to gather a complete medical history directly from the patients improves the physician-patient relationship, increasing the quality of patient care,” said Girish Kumar Navani, president of eClinicalWorks. “Adding this feature to eClinicalWorks will enhance our Patient Portal and create new revenue opportunities for physicians.”

Once available, eClinicalWorks will offer the IMH feature, without charge during the pilot period, to all new and existing Patient Portal customers.
