Westborough, Mass.—July 14, 2008—eClinicalWorks®, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill) Campus Health Services (CHS) has purchased licenses of eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management (PM) software. Campus Health Services provides comprehensive outpatient health care for more than 28,000 students who will also utilize eClinicalWorks Patient Portal and Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO). eClinicalWorks will equip UNC-Chapel Hill Campus Health Services with a comprehensive system for maintaining and accessing patient medical information, while increasing the ease of communication between the campus community served and staff.

Interfaces between eClinicalWorks and Orchard Software’s Harvest Laboratory Information System as well as QS/1’s pharmacy system NRx will further automate CHS and improve electronic communication among the various sections of CHS.

“As the nation’s first state university, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a history of using innovative processes for its students,” said Dr. Patricia Huff, director of administration and a clinical associate professor at the School of Medicine for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Campus Health Services at UNC-Chapel Hill will implement eClinicalWorks unified EMR/PM system with the goals of streamlining the clinical processes and promoting patient safety while reducing costs and plans to use the Patient Portal to promote increased communication between the students and providers. UNC-Chapel Hill has also chosen to implement eClinicalWorks eBO, which uses meta-data to give the practice more flexibility through the creation of customized reports and by performing clinical and financial analysis.

“eClinicalWorks’ solutions are versatile enough and have been proven to meet the needs of nearly every ambulatory care setting, including universities,” said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “eClinicalWorks is proud to have been selected by a university as prestigious as UNC-Chapel Hill and looks forward to adding value to its Campus Health Services by facilitating remote and immediate access to patient information, allowing its providers to spend more time on delivering quality care”
